Today's Guest is Lucy Jeynes
Lucy is one of the founding directors of Larch Consulting and is the Managing Director of the company. She has over 25 years’ experience in advising organisations on all aspects of FM strategy and delivery and is considered one of the UK’s experts in the field.
She has led FM review and implementation programmes for a wide range of well-known organisations from sectors including retail, leisure, finance, science, universities, local authorities, government departments and charities. She was part of the team that developed the Workplace Management Framework.
Lucy is a former Board member of IFMA UK, previous deputy chair of IWFM and is judge for the Technology in FM awards. She has been voted by her peers as a Pioneer of FM and one of the 20 Most Influential Women in FM. She is founder of the Women in FM network, and set up FM’s first peer-to-peer mentoring programme.

- It’s worth bearing in mind that while we are not paying a good living page for work, then that effectively means that means they have to have more than one job.
- Most of us never started working in FM. We ended up in it.
- If you are an integrated service provider the more services you provide for a client, the better it is for you.
- If you can’t see it, you can’t be it.
- A lot of FM people were lost during 9/11. I am not whether that has been formally added up.
- Best things in life aren’t things, memories are in me and not the things.
- We are so lucky as women. I created a whole human being inside me and that is like a super power. Every funny or kind thing the children does, you can think “I made them”.
- FM is a good sector and get some money and doesn’t involve you in planting a career ladder. This helps them fit in other parts of their life as well. The ideal work-life balance.
- There was something like 28 women in my college. Most of the men at the college had applied for a single sex college. So, it was like being in a boys boarding school.
- FM is not a Cinderella profession i.e. everyone else goes to the Ball and Cinderella doesn’t. FM people are running the Ball and not attending them.
- Keep Peddling.
- There is no magical, success factor. It’s about being willing to work hard and developing your talents.
