FM Market Insights in the Public Sector domain for Aug-Oct’21
The public sector authorities awarded contracts in the Facilities Management (FM) space for a total contract value in excess of £928 Million inside three months period between Aug-21 to Oct-21. The number of contracts was 544 during this period.
Among the months Sep-21 saw heightened activity by clocking 217 contracts with more than £535 Million of contract value. The period saw some high value contacts exchanging hands including one for more than £150 Million offered by Scottish Police Authority and earned by Atalian Servest AMK Limited in the Hard Facilities Management Services, thus making this month the best deal maker for the three month period.

The Scottish government Authorities were the largest buyers of FM Services with two of its divisions Scottish Police Authority & Scottish Fire and Rescue Services being the top two procurers. Among the largest contracts, apart from the one awarded to Atalian Servest AMK Limited was a contract granted to Robertson Facilities Management Limited with a value of £128 Million by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on 8th Sept-21 for business related services.

Apart from Atalian & Robertson who earned large value contracts from Scottish Government authorities, this period saw other large & smaller players in action. Among some other top wins Engie Services Limited earned a contract worth £97 Million from Cheshire East Council for building services. Mitie Technical Facilities Management Limited received a £70 Million deal from Crown Commercial Services for Home Office Security and Support Services and Horstman Defence Systems Limited earned a contract valued in excess of £59 Million from Ministry of Defence for upgrade and Refurbishment of Hydro-gas 3rd generation suspension units.
Category Spread of business volume during Aug-Oct’21
Local government authorities were the largest procurers during this period with Scottish government authorities leading the pack. This category clocked a share of 24% of the overall business volume. The central government authorities were closely behind at 20% by offering 65 contracts with an estimated value in excess of £182 Million.
Overall, this period saw some fascinating action in the facilities management arena and with Crown Commercial Services setting the market abuzz with its new framework, the coming months are expected to be more captivating.
