Key Insights

The analysis highlights the following critical trends:

  • Public Sector Growth: The FM market is increasingly driven by public sector growth, now accounting for 71% of the total market. This reflects a continued focus on centralising FM services within government operations.
  • Private Sector Stagnation: Despite a 12% overall market expansion, private sector contracts have seen only modest growth, suggesting potential market saturation or cost pressures in commercial FM services.
  • Hard FM Services Dominance: Hard FM services have risen from 36% to 42% of total contract value, demonstrating a growing market premium for technical expertise and infrastructure management. This trend points to a shift towards higher-value, more complex FM solutions.

Market Implications

  • Opportunities in Public Sector: The expanding public sector share offers significant opportunities for service providers. However, it also increases reliance on government policies and spending, posing risks if funding priorities shift.
  • Adapting to Market Saturation: Providers in the private sector must address challenges of market saturation by focusing on innovation, efficiency, and demonstrating value to clients.
  • Focus on Technical Expertise: The increasing demand for Hard FM services highlights the importance of investing in technical capabilities and specialised infrastructure management solutions.
